Frank Anthony Tetro Community Hero

     On February 29, 1940, Frank A. Tetro was born in the Bronx, New York, to Frank Tetro and Othelia Hinspeter. His birthday is significant because it is February 29th, in a leap year. By the time he was four, his birthday had actually only occurred once (Pictured on the left, he was in the newspaper for such a specialty).He had a brother and many sisters due to his mother remarrying. He had 4 half-sisters named Frances, Mary, Anne, and Catherine and a half-brother named Joe. He graduated from Edison High School. After that he worked with Con Edison for 10  years.

He worked for the police for 26 consecutive years and solved many cases as a detective. He has won numerous police citations along with competing in the New York State Police Olympics in Archery. He was a personal body guard for Leona Helmsley (a billionare), The Undertaker (a wrestler), and many more. These Police Citations included:

- 14 Excellent Police Medals

- 3 Meritorious Police Medals
- A Unit Citation in 1976 For His Anti- Crime Units Quality Arrests
- A Unit Citation in 1981 For His Narcotics Arrests
- Cop of The Month Award For Outstanding Arrests
(twice in the same year, the first and only of the 34. Pct.)

He also won hundreds of A.K.C. awards (American Kennel Club). Some of them included:
- The Gaines Award From The American Kennel Club for Outstanding Sportsmanship and Showmanship
- Completed in Hundreds of A.K.C. Stationed Competition Winning Many 1st places

-Trained 2 dogs through the obedience titles of, "Companion Dog", "Companion Dog Excellent", and  "Utility Dog."
- Performed as a judge in many A.K.C. Obedience Trials for the Taconic Hills Kennel Club

His other great accomplishments included running 10k and 5k races. He completed 2 New York City races and 1 in New Rochelle.

He likes to raise Tropical Fish along with annually planting a vegetable garden. He also likes to run and practice archery, along with riding his motorcycle. He has traveled extensively in the southern states including numerous visits to Mexico.
His favorite book is Sleepers. His favorite actor is Clint Eastwood, and his favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan. His favorite saying is: "How 'bout dem Cowboys?"
